WTF Should You Do About The Sun?

We all get excited about summertime and being in the sun to tan, especially those of us in New York City. As soon as we see ocean, sun, and beach, we lose our shit. While that tan on your face is temporary, there are permanent long-term issues occurring that you should do your best to prevent.

  • Less is more. When you’re outside, limit the amount of time your face is exposed to the sun.

  • Wear hats and sunglasses from time to time, and if you’re at the beach, stay under the umbrella to give your skin a break.

  • Don’t drink or get fucked up in the sun. This’ll only make you burn faster, and you’ll also feel like shit the next day.

  • The sunscreen that goes on your face is different than the one that goes on your body.

  • Stay the hell away from tanning booths. They’ll make you look orange, like you’re on a cheesy reality show. Fake bakes will also make your skin age a lot faster.

Many people strive for a “healthy” glow or a tan. But tanned skin is damaged skin. Too many years of sun exposure and tanning is going to lead to sunspots and wrinkles. If you’re out there tanning, try to avoid the hours of 11 AM and 2 PM, when the sun is at its strongest. Protect yourself by wearing appropriate clothing and sunscreen. Not to imply that you never to go in the sun, because you have to get that vitamin D. Just be smart about it.
