Manhood TV White Bean Hummus

Try this white bean dip as a great alternative to the average hummus and pita chips. Dig in!

 

Ingredients

  • 2 cans cannellini beans or other white beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 sweet onion
  • Olive oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Roasted garlic
  • 1/2 cup – 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1 sprig of fresh rosemary
  • 2-3 tablespoon tahini (sesame-seed paste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads, warmed and cut into triangles or pita chips

 

Directions

 

1.   Heat olive oil in a pot. Add sweet onion and garlic and cook for 10 minutes.

 

2.   Add white beans, water, bay leaf and cumin. Bring the mixture to a boil, lower the heat, and simmer until the beans are tender, about 30 to 40 minutes.

 

3.   Place bean mixture in a blender (or food processor if you have one). Add the lemon juice, Parmesan cheese, rosemary, cumin, tahini paste, and salt and pepper. Blend until smooth and thick.


4.   Garnish with rosemary and olive oil.
