Manhood TV Scallop Recipe

Fresh scallops don't need much more than salt and pepper, but sometimes that can get a little boring. So this is a fun way to make them less bland and give them a little more flavor. If desired you can add some Parmesan cheese or other seasonings to the Panko.

 

Ingredients

  • Pound of medium fresh sea scallops from store (do not use large scallops)
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1/3 cup of milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup of Panko bread crumbs
  • 1 - 2 cups of vegetable or peanut oil

1. Rinse scallops

 

2. In a medium bowl mix 1/2 cup of flour and about a teaspoon of salt and pepper.

 

3. In a separate bowl mix 1/3 cup of milk and two large eggs.

 

4. In another separate bowl place 1 cup of Panko bread crumbs.

 

5. Heat a sauté pan with 1 - 2 cups of vegetable or peanut oil, or whatever you have on hand, NO OLIVE OIL. Pre-heat pan to 300 degrees.

6. Dip the scallops in the flour bowl, then in the egg mixture and then cover in Panko flakes.

7. Cook 2 minutes on each side or until golden and cooked through (depending on the size).

 

8. Remove from oil and place on a paper towel for a minute.

 

9. Take mini wooden skewers (or toothpicks), stab one into each skewer and serve.
