Jo's Hot Toddy

Warm up with this delicious version of a Hot Toddy. In the warmer months, try the Ginger-Lemongrass Syrup with an iced tea, Mojito, and desserts—like a watermelon granita.

 

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Old Overholt Rye
  • 1 oz ginger lemongrass simple syrup (see recipe below)
  • 1 orange wedge
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • 1 orange twist
  • 1 lemon twist
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • Hot water

 

Directions

1. Add rye and simple syrup to rocks glass. Fill glass to 1 finger width from rim with hot water, squeeze in lemon and orange wedges, then throw them out.

 

2. Add lemon and orange twists, cinnamon stick, and star anise.

 

 

Ginger-Lemongrass Syrup

 

Ingredients

  • 1 lb peeled and sliced ginger
  • 4 full stalks lemongrass
  • 3 qts granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 qts water

 

Directions

1. In a saucepan, bring sugar, lemongrass, ginger and water to a boil.

 

2. Simmer until the sugar is dissolved, about 3 minutes.

 

3. Remove from the heat and let cool completely.
