INDIAN MINT CHAI

Looking for a great coffee alternative? Try this delicious, milky Indian Mint Chai. Most folks in India wouldn’t start their day without their morning chai.

 

Makes 1 cup

 

Ingredients


  • 1/4 cup water

  • 3/4 cup whole milk

  • 4 - 5 cardamom pods, cracked

  • 3 - 4 mint leaves, shredded by hand

  • 1 black tea bag or 2 teaspoons of loose black tea

  • Optional - sugar cubes, to taste


Directions

 

Heat the water and milk in a pot over medium-heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Grind cardamom pods until they are fine, shred the mint leaves, and add both to pot. Then add the tea bag.

Once the mixture starts to bubble, lower the heat and let it brew for another minute or two. Simmer longer for stronger taste. Stir the tea until the color turns brown. Remove pot from heat and use a strainer to pour the tea into a cup.
